Coralville is a city located in Johnson County, Iowa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 15,123. It is a suburb of Iowa City. The development of the community that we now know as Coralville began after the construction in 1843 of what was then the largest dam in Iowa along the Iowa River and the mills that eventually made use of the dam's power.
In 1950 automobile travel and tourism became common, and the "Coralville Strip" became well-populated with retail shops, service stations, discount stores, restaurants, and motels. During the same period, the Coralville Dam was built upstream four miles of the city.
In 1998 the Coral Ridge Mall opened with more than 100 stores, the largest shopping center in the area. Featuring a NHL regulation-size ice arena, The Iowa Children's Museum, John Deere Play Plot, an antique carousel, a fabulous 1,000-seat food court, a 10-screen movie theatre, and over 120 great stores, it is the premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination in the Midwest! Located a few miles west of Coralville, you'll find 55 authentic name-brand outlets.

Entertainment in Coralville is very affordable. We are home to numerous museums and festivals that are FREE to the public. Experience anything from history to jazz to art. Regardless of the activity, it's guaranteed to be fun and entertaining.
The Coralville Community Aquatic Center features an 25-meter L-shaped pool that has a zero depth entry, diving boards, two water slides, and a splash deck full of fountains and play structures for the little ones to enjoy. The water slides feature an open flume body slide, and a space bowl body slide which circles you round 2-4 times before dropping you into an 8 foot pool of water.
Coralville Parks and Recreation offers diverse opportunities to meet your leisure needs. Our facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, shelters, fishing ponds, recreation center, playgrounds and tennis courts. Camp at Edgewater Park, hike or bike the trails in North Ridge Park. Stop in the Rec Center at S.T. Morrison Park and work out in the weight room, shoot hoops, gather for a family event, or play a game of racquetball.
